FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: surgical instrument contains an interchangeable end effector, a handle assembly, and a rod assembly. The interchangeable end effector comprises the first jaw element with the first electrode and the jaw second element with the second electrode. The first jaw element is movable relative to the second jaw element between the first position and the second position. The handle assembly is located proximally to the surgical end effector. The rod assembly extends between the handle assembly and the interchangeable end effector. The rotary drive rod is designed to transmit rotary motions. The rotary drive rod is configured to selectively move axially relative to the rod assembly between individual positions. The connection configuration is intended for releasable attachment of the interchangeable end effector to the rod assembly.
