FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: surgical end effector contains the first and second branch elements. The second branch element comprises a displaced proximal feed electrode arranged to contact the opposite member of the first branch element when the first and second branch elements are in the closed position. The second branch element comprises a distal feed electrode arranged distally with respect to the biased proximal electrode and aligned with the conductive surface of the first branch element when the first and second branch elements are in the closed position. When the first and second branch elements are in the closed position, the proximal feed electrode can contact the opposite element. In the closed position of the first and second elements, the distal feed electrode does not contact the conductive surface of the first branch element.
