FIELD: tobacco industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cigarette paper containing cellulosic fibers and filler particles, at least 20%, preferably at least 40%, particularly preferably at least 55%, and in particular at least 70% of the filler particles, based on the particle weight or number, have the lamellar shape, the lamellar filler particles having a length "l", a width "b" and a thickness "d", which in each case correspond to the maximum dimensions in three spatial directions perpendicular to each other, both the length "l" and the width "b" being at least twice as large, preferably at least four times as large, as the thickness "d", and wherein the mass-median value d50 of the particle size distribution as measured according to ISO 13317-3 is between 0.2 and 4.0 mcm, preferably between 0.5 and 3.0 mcm, the lamellar particles being formed by calcium carbonate.
EFFECT: providing diffusion capacity for air permeability of cigarette paper to reduce CO consumption by a smoker without affecting the cigarette flavour.
