FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method includes the input of an optical probing pulse through the receiving optical system into a fiber-optic delay line of calibrated length and the output via the transmitting optical system to the photodetector of the verified device. In the fiber-optic delay line, the optical energy of the probing pulse is separated. Part of the energy through the optical fiber of the calibrated length is directed to the photodetector of the verified device, and the other part is sent to a closed fiber-optic delay line. For each cyclic passage of the light pulse, a part of the optical energy of the pulse is separated and directed to the photodetector of the verified device. Thus, by means of a closed fiber-optic delay line of calibrated length, a sequence of decaying optical pulses is formed, which are spaced from each other at equal intervals of time, determined by its length.

EFFECT: expansion of functionality and increase of accuracy of measurements.
