FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: in the method for creating a brief summary of digital content a reference to the digital content is received and syntactic analysis of content textual representation is carried out. The content is divided into an ordered set of fragments including the first and second fragments. A semantic analysis of each fragment is carried out and the utility parameter for each fragment and the relations between each pair of fragments are determined. In response to the fact that utility parameter of the second fragment exceeds the predetermined threshold value, the second fragment is included in a subset of fragments for inclusion in the brief summary of digital content. In response to receiving a reference to the relation of the second fragment with the first one, the first fragment is included in a subset of fragments. A brief summary of digital content based on a subset of fragments is created.

EFFECT: expansion of the arsenal of technical means for creating brief summaries of digital content.
