SUBSTANCE: technical result is achieved by determining the popularity rating in a system indicating the popularity of the first digital content item in the advisory system; determine the value of web popularity, indicating the popularity of the first digital content item on the network resource; determining the popularity correction coefficient for the first digital content item based on the popularity estimate in the system and the web popularity value associated with the first digital content item; generating a corrected set of ranked content candidate elements by correcting the first rating of the first digital content item, at least in part, based on the popularity adjustment coefficient; and transmitting by the server of the corrected set of candidate digital content elements to an electronic device for displaying thereon.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of accuracy of ranking a set of digital content candidate elements.
