SUBSTANCE: scintillator contains a large number of garnet compositions in a single block having a structural formula (1): M1aM2bM3cM4dO12, in which O is oxygen, M1, M2, M3 and M4 is the first, the second, the third, and the fourth metal, which differ from each other, wherein the sum of a+ b+c+d is about 8, where "a" is from 2 to 3.5, "b" is from 0 to 5, "c" - from 0 to 5, "d" - from 0 to 1, where "b" and "c", "b" and "d" or "c" and "d" can not both be zero at the same time, in which M1 is a rare earth element, including gadolinium, yttrium, lutetium, or a combination thereof, M2 is aluminium or boron, M3 is gallium, and M4 is a co-dopant; where two compositions having the same structural formulas are not disposed adjacent to each other and where a single unit is devoid of optical interfaces between the various compositions.
