FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the method of processing HMF in FDCA, including the dissolution of HMF in water with the formation of aqueous HMF, combining aqueous solution comprising HMF, with a source of oxygen in the presence of a homogeneous catalyst based on metal salts, but virtually with no solvent for HMF and the homogeneous catalyst based on metal salts other than water, and under the conditions, which are effective for the oxidation of HMF in the presence of a catalyst, the formation of FDCA and then removing the sludge of FDCA.
EFFECT: simplification of the process by conducting it in the absence of any solvent for HMF and a homogeneous catalyst other than water.
