SUBSTANCE: compensating unit may be connected to the free grid segments of the grid which are created by excision and the compensating unit may be configured to vary the current supplied to the remaining LEDs from the LED grid. In some embodiments, compensating unit is provided which is and/or can be configured to reduce the current applied to one or more LEDs from the LED-based lighting device.
EFFECT: ensuring compensation of electrical changes resulting from cutting out a grid portion of a plurality of LEDs.
