FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: composite construction comprises a composite material and an optical fiber placed in this composite material. The optical fiber contains many quantum dots to enhance its nonlinear optical properties. The quantum dots may be located in the core, in the shell and/or on the surface of the optical fiber. The optical fiber is configured to transmit signals and is made sensitive to a defect in the composite material. The quantum dots create a nonlinear effect, such as second order effect, in response to a defect in the composite material. On the basis of registration and analysis of signals having a nonlinear effect created by the quantum dots, a defect in the composite material may be detected.
EFFECT: possibility of detecting defects in a composite construction.
