FIELD: measurement.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to measurement equipment. System for measuring strain comprises an optical fibre, the central part of which is secured between two fixed points. First light source outputs light at a first frequency and a second light source outputs light at a second different frequency. Both light sources are coupled to a first end of the optical fibre. Back scatter detector is also coupled to the first end to receive a reflected light signal from the optical fibre and outputs a signal based on the received reflected light signal. Forward scatter detector is coupled to a second end of the optical fibre to receive a forward light signal from the optical fibre and outputs a signal based on said received forward light signal. Processor is configured to receive signals from the back scatter detector and the forward scatter detector and to generate an output signal proportional to the strain between the two fixed points based on the received signals.

EFFECT: technical result consists in creating an optical fibre-based measuring system for measuring strain, providing a signal in real time.
