FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: internal combustion engine is provided with a hydrocarbon supply valve (15) located in the engine exhaust duct. When control of injection for injecting hydrocarbons from the hydrocarbon supply valve (15) for exhaust cleaning is stopped, in order to prevent plugging of the hydrocarbon supply valve (15), hydrocarbons are injected from the hydrocarbon supply valve (15) in hydrocarbons to prevent plugging when the engine does not produce soot, i.e. when fuel supply inside the combustion chamber (2) stops, and after hydrocarbons are injected for one time to prevent plugging, the injection of hydrocarbons to prevent plugging of the hydrocarbon supply valve (15) stops till the control of injection for exhaust cleaning is resumed.

EFFECT: improved efficiency.
