FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: there are a hydrocarbons supply valve (15) and an oxidation catalyst (13) for the exhaust gases purging in the internal combustion engine in the engine exhaust passage. The first and the second NOx pull-off methods and are used. The first method reclaims the contained within the exhaust gas NOx by virtue of the regenerative intermediate compound that is formed when priming the hydrocarbons from the hydrocarbons supply valve (15) within the required time range. In the second method, the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas that flows into the oxidation catalyst (13) for exhaust gases purging is made rich throughout the period that is longer than this given range. The changeover temperatures ST and ST0 of the oxidation catalyst (13) for the exhaust gases purging are lower prescribed in case if the quantity of NOx in the exhaust gas, that flows into the oxidation catalyst (13) for exhaust gases purging, increases. At these temperatures the NOx pull-off method switches over the second NOx pull-off method to the first NOx pull-off method.
EFFECT: effective purification of exhaust gas at the time of relevant electronating agent quantity reduction.
