FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: device is designed to direct electricity to the lantern and reduce the amount of energy, sent to the lantern as a function of the available electrical power in the source. Thus, reducing the available power in the source causes a smaller decrease in the brightness of the lantern. This can be achieved by the electricity passing through a passive circuit of resistors and diodes on its way to the lantern. In one example, the power source may be a battery that is powered by one or more solar panels. In this case, the device can also perform the function of protecting the battery from excess charge.
EFFECT: device reduces the daily power consumption of the lantern, exceeding the consumption with daily electrical charging from solar panels, when the available battery power is close to its full capacity.
