FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: method consists in providing locking units, each containing a powered actuator and a door controller inducing the powered actuator to unlock the locking unit while actuating the inner and the outer door handles. The locking unit can be mechanically unlocked by the user from within the vehicle, even if the powered actuator does not operate due to a loss of electrical power or another malfunction. The controller can be programmed to unlock the locking unit according to various criteria required to meet the specific requirements of different markets.
EFFECT: saving costs while designing, manufacturing and maintaining locking units due to modifying the functions of the locking units by special requirements.
