SUBSTANCE: method for decoding encoded video data, in which an encoded video bitstream comprising an encoded image that is divided into a plurality of units of a coding tree (CTU), wherein the plurality of the CTU is arranged in multiple lines; it is determined that the encoded image includes one or more slices that start in a corresponding CTU line of the encoded image at a position different from the start of the said respective row; it is determined that each slice of one or more slices that start at a position other than the start of the corresponding CTU line ends within the corresponding CTU line, so that no slice of one or more slices that start at a position different from the start of the corresponding CTU line, does not go to the subsequent CTU line of the encoded image; and based on this determination, the encoded video bit stream is parsed to decode the slice syntax elements from each respective CTU line, in which the corresponding slice starts at a position different from the start.
EFFECT: efficient performance of parallel processing of wave front images.
