SUBSTANCE: pneumatic tire (1) includes two bead cores (11, 11), a carcass ply (13) extending between two bead cores (11, 11), and a belt layer (14) including a laminate of, at least four layers (141-144) of the belt having steel belt cords covered with a rubber coating. The breaker layer is located on the side of the carcass ply (13), which is radially external to the tire. The distance Ga between the cords of the outermost layer of the belt (the fourth belt (144)) and the adjacent belt layer (third belt (143)) is in such a ratio with the maximum value (ϕmax) outer diameters (ϕ4, ϕ3) of the belt cords (1441, 1431) in the outermost layer (144) of the belt and the adjacent belt layer (143), which is 0.80 ≤ Ga/ϕmax ≤ 1.80. The maximum value ϕmax outer diameter of the belt cords is in the range 1.50 mm ≤ Ga/ϕmax ≤ 6.00 mm.
