FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for determining soot particles in an exhaust jet of gas turbine engine (GTE) in flight. For the implementation of the method, neutralization current of electric charges generated by the soot particles in the exhaust gas jet of the gas turbine engine is measured in flight from arresters of the aircraft, gas flow through the engine nozzle is determined, value of electrification of atmospheric aerosols due to their contact with the surfaces of the aircraft is measured, average value of the electric charge density of the gas jet in all flight modes is determined, content of soot particles in the jet is determined from the graded dependencies of "smoke numbers" on the average value of the electric charge density and the effect of atmospheric aerosols are determined.

EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of the determination of the content of soot particles in the GTE exhaust gas jet under different meteorological conditions is provided.
