FIELD: jet engines for heavier- than-air flying vehicles. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes ionization of gas on upper and lower surfaces of axisymmetrical body by forming ions near these surfaces with the aid of electrical discharge and acting on these ions with electric or magnetic field in order to create differential of pressure of ionized gas between upper and lower surfaces. In the course of successive electrical discharges, many ion beams are created in form of spirals for generating under action of electric or magnetic field centrifugal vortex flow of ionized gas above upper surface of body and counter centripetal vortex flow of ionized gas so that particles of centrifugal vortex flow interact with upper surface of body and particles of centripetal vortex flow interact with lower surface of body. Device proposed for realization of this method has body made in form of axisymmetrical body of revolution bounded by upper convex and lower concave non- current-conducting envelopes with electrodes of electric discharges mounted on them, high- voltage power supply source, field-forming system and ionizing radiators of electrical dischargers.
