SUBSTANCE: invention relates to aviation and missile technology. Method of controlling the aircraft air-breathing engine of an aircraft involves measuring the pressure and temperature of the air at the inlet to the air-breathing engine, converting the information from pressure and temperature sensors, and transmitting the transformed information via information exchange channel (4) to calculator (8), processing the received information in calculator (8) according to predetermined algorithms for maintaining the speed of the aircraft at various altitudes, issuance of control signals to the air-breathing engine. Method also includes self-monitoring of the units, sensors and valves of the air-breathing engine. When a pressure sensor (3) and / or temperature sensor (11) failure signal received, a command is issued to execute a backup control algorithm for the air-breathing engine, which consists in calculating the pressure and air temperature at the input to the air-breathing engine using the parameters of the aircraft's height and speed that are measured using satellite navigation equipment (5).
EFFECT: invention provides the possibility of adjusting the operation of the air-breathing engine in its normal state and creating a backup system for controlling the air-breathing engine in an emergency situation.
