SUBSTANCE: invention relates to industrial acoustics and can be used to reduce the noise of a machinery drive, clad industrial premises, and in other sound-absorbing structures. Method for studying the acoustic characteristics of sound-absorbing elements is that a test object with a new test lining is installed freely on the floor, it is switched to its nominal operating mode and the sound pressure levels at the workplace are recorded by means of acoustic microphones, connected to a sound level meter from a set of acoustic equipment, that meets the requirements for measuring systems. Sound pressure levels are recorded at five points along the perimeter of the test object at a distance of 1 m from its overall dimensions. Sound level meter readings are recorded at each point at least three times, and after that, the calculation of the noise characteristics of the test object with the new tested lining is carried out according to certain mathematical dependencies.
EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing the efficiency of sound attenuation and the reliability of the structure as a whole.
