FIELD: measuring instruments.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of optical measuring instruments and can be used in optical interferometric sensors with semiconductor optical radiation sources for forming optical pulses and frequency modulation of an optical carrier without the use of additional amplitude, frequency and phase modulators. For this, an electrical signal is sent to the semiconductor laser source of optical radiation in the form of a sequence of rectangular pulses of the same amplitude, with a duty cycle, which is changed in proportion to the modulation frequency.
EFFECT: method solves the problem of simplifying the formation of an optical signal for interrogating optical interferometric sensors due to the simultaneous formation of optical pulses and frequency modulation, without the use of additional external modulators of optical radiation, with the same amplitude of optical pulses remaining.
