SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst, a method for its preparation, and a method for purifying exhaust gases from nitrogen oxides under oxidising conditions in the presence of ammonia. Catalyst for purification of exhaust gases from nitrogen oxides by selective catalytic reduction with ammonia under oxidising conditions to nitrogen contains 3.0–7.0 wt% of supported vanadium oxide, the support being one of crystalline alumina modifications (γ-Al2O3, χ-Al2O3, θ-Al2O3, η-Al2O3, δ-Al2O3, κ-Al2O3, α-Al2O3) or a mixture thereof, with a specific surface area of 50–150 m2/g and a moisture capacity of 0.35–0.76 cm3/g. Processes for preparing a catalyst and a process for purifying exhaust gases from nitrogen oxides by catalytic reduction with ammonia in an oxidising atmosphere to nitrogen in the presence of the catalyst described above are described.

EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing the activity of the catalyst in the SCR of NO with ammonia in the presence of oxygen while reducing vanadium content.
