SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method of manufacturing a polymer article having high or super-hydrophobic characteristics, preferably in the form of a film, to a process for manufacturing multilayered and polymer coated paper or paperboard articles, respectively, all of which have the aforementioned characteristics, and the products obtained by said methods and their applications. Method for manufacturing a polymer coated paper or paperboard product comprises coating paper or cardboard web with a polymer melt, providing a pattern on the polymer coated side by way of entering into contact with the coated side of the composite and cooling the article. Said method is used to manufacture various products with high or super-hydrophobic characteristics.
