SUBSTANCE: invention relates to systems for processing space images of an area. Disclosed is a method for identifying reference points on space images (SI) of an area in the absence of geographic referencing parameters, including determining the primary geographic referencing of the processed SI, determination of the area of intersection of the processed and reference SI, formation of copies of the reference and processed SI with reduced resolution, identification of 4 reference points, refinement of the primary geographic referencing of the processed SI, formation of pairs of fragments and identification of reference points on each pair, formation of a set of reference points by quality criterion, and at the same time forming a global coverage of the earth's surface, based on the survey area (if any), limiting the identification region on the global coverage, finding key points of the global coverage, correcting the brightness and geometric properties of the processed space image, key points of the processed image are found, reference points on the global and processed SI are identified, false matches are removed, reference points are checked by the geometric model, approximate values of georeferencing parameters are calculated.
EFFECT: reduction of time for determination of parameters of primary geographic referencing of images of area.
