FIELD: lighting engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to lighting engineering, in particular to adaptive lighting control basing on the traffic flow in outdoor lighting network (100). This adaptive control provides lighting with a certain sensitivity range basing on object detection (20) and, optionally, object speed (20), by means of lighting device (LU 1-8) provided with sensor (12). For outdoor lighting network (100) these methods include deciding when to send a control message to other lighting devices (LU 1-8), selecting one or more control message exchange protocols using modes adapted to reach the sensitivity range depending on object speed (20), and controlling characteristics of lighting device (LU 1-8) output brightness level.
EFFECT: improving the reliability of lighting control basing on the traffic flow in the outdoor lighting network.
