FIELD: aircraft engineering.

SUBSTANCE: wing assembly comprises an inclined wing end comprising an outer section pivotally connected to the main wing containing a movable control surface or to the inner section of the inclined wing end. Outer section of the inclined wing end does not contain any movable flight control surfaces and is able to move between the folded position and the expanded position, in which it is located in the same plane as the main wing or as the inner section of the inclined wing end. There are fixing means to fix the outer section in the expanded position with the main wing or with the inner section of the inclined wing end. Fixing means comprise an end spar and/or a locking pin. Method of operating an aircraft is characterized by the possibility of using the wing assembly.
