FIELD: data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for generating a speech signal. Apparatus comprises microphone receivers (101) that receive microphone signals from a plurality of microphones (103). Comparison unit (105) determines the indication of the similarity of speech, indicating a similarity between the microphone signal and non-reverberating speech, for each microphone signal. Determination occurs in response to a comparison of the characteristic obtained from the microphone signal with a reference characteristic for non-reverberating speech. In some embodiments, comparison unit (105) determines the indication of the similarity of speech by comparison with the reference characteristics for speech samples from a set of non-reverberating speech samples. Generator (107) generates a speech signal by combining microphone signals in response to similarity indications. Apparatus can be distributed over a plurality of devices, each device comprising a microphone, and said method can determine the most suitable microphone for generating a speech signal.
EFFECT: technical result is improving quality of speech by reducing reverberation.
