FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: medical device is a surgical needle, comprising: a body made of tungsten-rhenium alloy, a primer coating based on polyalkylsiloxane and tetraethyl silicate formed on the surface of the body, a lower coating applied over the primer coating. In this case, the lower coating includes a vinyl functionalized organopolysiloxane. The topcoat applied over the lower coating comprises polydimethylsiloxane. Moreover, the lower and upper coating is applied to the surface of the body by means of a vortex application and forms a silicone coating with high lubricating properties. The body provides a constant effort to penetrate more than thirty passes of the body through the fabric. Also, a method for coating a medical device is claimed.

EFFECT: durability and high lubricity of surgical needles to facilitate repeated re-holding of the needle through the tissue.
