SUBSTANCE: invention relates to explosion physics for obtaining and forming the detonation front as a result of multipoint initiation of large-sized cylindrical charges of an explosive and can be used in various devices of technical physics. Group of inventions includes a method and devices (variants) for forming a detonation front and an initiating device. Method includes initiation device detonation, propagating of the detonation following the charge of the explosive with branching, formation of the detonation front on the surface of the main cylindrical charge of the explosive. Initiation device is fabricated on the basis of a chain of initiating means arranged along the axis of the main cylindrical charge of the explosive with a predetermined pitch S2. With the help of the initiation device, multipoint explosive charge initiation with branching is performed simultaneously along the indicated axis and with a predetermined pitch, propagation in the radial direction of detonation along the branching paths to the inner surface of the cylindrical main charge of the explosive is provided, the exit locations of the detonation waves on its inner surface are formed by groups spaced along the axis of the cylindrical main charge of the explosive with a pitch S, for each group the exit points of the detonation waves are distributed along a circle with a given pitch S1, which is set to be equal to or less than S, and the choice of pitch S is made on the basis of the condition S≤S2/2.

EFFECT: expansion of the operational capabilities of the device and method; reduction and the ability to control the time difference of the output of detonation waves in the radial direction to the cylindrical explosive charge due to the design features of the initiation device.
