FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry. Method of recycling chromate production wastes involves mixing the initial dispersed materials and melting in an electric arc furnace at a temperature of 1,100 to 1,400 °C with pyrometallurgical production of ferrochromium. Initial dispersed materials used are a chromate slurry containing chromium and iron oxides and slag-forming components, and aluminum shavings with the following ratio of components of dry mass, wt%: chromate slurry 79–62, aluminum shavings 21–38.
EFFECT: invention simplifies the process of recycling chromate production wastes, its hardware design while increasing the degree of extraction of chromium compounds from the slurry and its neutralisation.
