SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for use in ventilation and air conditioning devices at industrial, residential and public-administrative premises for the implementation of supply and exhaust ventilation of small rooms with a limited space for the installation. Method of operation of the supply and exhaust ventilation system, which consists of a housing, one supply and one exhaust fans, an electric shutter and a control unit, while in the housing there are a supply and an exhaust ducts for the supply air and the exhaust air to corresponding zones of air inlet into the plant and air outlet from the plant. With the help of sensors distributed over the internal surface of the plant and the control unit the plant is monitored and/or controlled, while the plant operates in the "inflow" mode and the "exhaust" modes; in the "inflow" mode the air supply is performed by means of the supply fan, when the exhaust fan is switched off and the exhaust channel is blocked by the shutter, and in the "exhaust" mode the supply fan is switched off, the supply channel is blocked by the shutter and the air exhausting is carried out by means of the exhaust fan, while monitoring the parameter level in the room set by the control unit is carried out by means of a sensor when the unit is operating in the "exhaust" mode, and the device is transferred from the "exhaust" mode to the "inflow" mode automatically when the level of the parameter is lowered below the one set by the control unit.
