SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for responding to a search query from a computer user. Method comprises the steps of obtaining search results responsive to a search query, a score is associated with each of the search results; identifying a plurality of user intents according to the obtained search results; grouping the obtained search results into groups, each of the groups corresponding to one of the identified plurality of user intents; selecting a first user intent according to the group of search results containing search results with the highest score; generating search result pages, including a first page of search results corresponding to the selected first user intent, each search result page is generated in such a way that it includes search results corresponding to a particular user intent from said plurality of user intents; and provide at least the first search result page to the computer user.

EFFECT: technical result is responding to a search query with ambiguous intent in the best possible way.
