SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hybrid vehicles. In a method for controlling a hybrid vehicle motor, during a transmission gear shift, the engine speed is reduced by that one or more cylinders are being operated with the spark timing advanced of the maximum braking torque (MBT). Total number of cylinders that are being operated with the spark timing advanced of the MBT is based on a reduction in the engine speed required for transmission gear shift. Actual total number of cylinders with the required reduction in engine speed is increased. One or more cylinders are then operated with the setting of the spark timing delayed by the MBT when the engine speed is lower than the threshold value.
EFFECT: torque control is simplified.
