Essence of invention is cleaning the surface of the heat-affected zone, determining the defects, device adjustment, determining the speed of passage of an ultrasonic wave through a metal without load, loading with periodic measurement of the speed of passage of an ultrasonic wave with and determining stress points and recording their location, loading before the formation of cracks with recording ultrasonic wave velocity measurement data, reviewing the occurrence of a crack by means of an electron microscope, fixing the coordinates of defect formation and comparing with the coordinates of the stress zone.

EFFECT: providing the possibility of determining and predicting the points of future defects in the heat-affected zone by determining the coordinates of stress points.
