FIELD: nondestructive testing, test of poor penetration in process of welding of article with use of acoustic emission signals. SUBSTANCE: acoustic emission signals emerging in weld in process of welding of parts are received, informative parameter is selected and used to evaluate quality of weld. Amplitude distribution of acoustic emission signals originated with oscillation of atoms in mouth of incomplete fusion which width of energy spectrum is found from certain relation is chosen in the capacity of informative parameter. One of welded parts is mounted in jig for movement along vertical axis, another part is immobile. Acoustic emission signals caused by processes of incomplete fusion and crack formation recorded in one and same channel of amplitude analyzer are divided by number of pulses of acoustic emission. EFFECT: raised authenticity of results of detection and recording of incomplete fusion in process of welding. 1 cl, 23 dwg
