FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a masterbatch comprising one or more organic peroxides dispersed in a bioresin, and the invention relates to a process for preparing said masterbatch and to using said masterbatch to modify a polymer. Masterbatch contains from 4 to 40 wt% of one or more organic peroxides in liquid form distributed in a polymer matrix containing at least 50 wt% biomass, where the polymer matrix has a porosity expressed as a percentage of voids in the matrix volume of 2.5 to 70 vol%, and water concentration in the masterbatch is maintained at 2000 ppm or less, based on the total weight of the masterbatch, wherein the bioresin is polylactide.
EFFECT: masterbatch according to the invention is suitable for improving the compatibility of biopolymer mixtures, as well as modifying polylactide to enhance the melt strength thereof by long chain branching.
