FIELD: chemical or physical processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing polymer compositions. Method of producing a polymer composition includes steps of: (a) providing a heterophase thermoplastic polymer containing: (i) a continuous phase selected from a group consisting of polypropylene homopolymers and propylene copolymers and up to 50 wt % of one or more comonomers, selected from the group consisting of ethylene and C4-C10 α-olefin monomers; and (ii) a discrete phase selected from the group consisting of ethylene homopolymers and copolymers of ethylene and a comonomer selected from the group consisting of C3-C10 α-olefin monomers; (b) providing a compatibility agent containing 2,2-bis[(1,3-pentadienylcarbonyloxy)methyl]butyl-2,4-hexadienoate; (c) providing a peroxide compound; (d) feeding a thermoplastic polymer, a compatibility agent and a peroxide compound into a melt mixing device, where the peroxide compound is fed into the melt mixing device in an amount which provides an initial concentration of active oxygen of 50 to 315 ppm in terms of the combined weight of the thermoplastic polymer, agent, improving compatibility, and peroxide compound, and agent, improving compatibility, is supplied to device for mixing of melt in amount, providing an initial concentration of 2,2-bis[(1,3-pentadienylcarbonyloxy)methyl]butyl-2,4-hexadienoate from 200 to 5,000 ppm in terms of the combined weight of the thermoplastic polymer, agent, improving compatibility, and peroxide compound; and (e) treating the thermoplastic polymer, the compatibility enhancing agent and the peroxide compound in a melt mixing apparatus at a temperature higher than the melting point of the thermoplastic polymer, to form a polymer composition. Invention also relates to a method of producing a polymer composition, in which the method, in addition to steps (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e), further comprises steps (f) of mixing the intermediate composition to produce a polymer composition; and (g) cooling the polymer composition to a temperature, at which it hardens.
EFFECT: providing methods which enable to obtain polymer compositions with high melt fluidity while maintaining, or even improving impact resistance of the polymer.
