SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of radio engineering and can be used in radio monitoring systems for data transmission and retransmission systems with broadband signals with or without spreading. Method for detecting a noise-like signal is to receive radio emission from a direction to a monitored system in a band much larger than the signal band, execution of the construction of the periodogram [ƒi, Pi], where ƒi and Pi – respectively, the frequency and power of a mixture of signal and noise or only noise in the ith parallel channel; i∈[1, …, N], N – number of frequency channels; determination of the number of frequency channels N1 occupied by the signal, for which for all possible N1 values in the zone of its uncertainty [N1min, …, N1max], where N1min and N1max – respectively, the minimum and maximum number of frequency channels occupied by the signal, calculate where

for each calculated value from elements of the array of the same name select a group of elements very close to its value with a fixed number of elements in the group K(N1) for which condition is met

where ν is a parameter that determines the degree of proximity to fix N1 corresponding to the group with the minimum K(N1), and determine the frequency channel number j*∈[1, …, N-N1], appropriate from array elements for which j<j*-N1 and j>j*+N1 form a noise cluster and calculate the mathematical expectation of the noise Pw and its dispersion form an array

at j∈[1, …, N-N1], where N1 - number of frequency channels occupied by the signal; reform the array by subtraction from each of its elements PN; on the noise variance and the given false alarm probability determine the decision threshold Uthr; by comparison with Uthr decide whether a signal is present or not.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention is the detection of a broadband signal with a near-rectangular spectrum in the absence of a priori information about its frequency parameters.
