SUBSTANCE: printing apparatus comprises a transport control unit, which controls the transport of sheets for printing in such a way, that the trailing edge of the previous sheet as a sheet for printing, previously fed from the stacking unit, and the leading edge of the subsequent sheet as a sheet for printing, subsequently fed from the stacking unit to the stack, overlap each other; and a skew correction unit, which corrects the skew of the subsequent sheet, when the next sheet overlaps the previous sheet, using the transportation control unit.

EFFECT: skew correction unit causes the leading edge of the subsequent sheet to abut against the conveying roller for a time from the end of the feeding operation of the last line by the transfer roller for printing on the previous sheet using the printing unit before the next transport operation.
