SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of water pollution estimation. Method for determining amount of pollution of marine coastal waters with heavy metals using algae is proposed. Method includes selection of algae thallome, analysis of impurity element content in them, where by calculation determine danger coefficients of algae environmental pollution by specific metals, total danger coefficient of algae environmental pollution by specific metals and total normalized amount of pollution coefficient of marine environment by heavy metals, and their comparison with background indices of concentration of each metal in algae. In this case, as upper quieting level, uttermost for background concentration range CMAC use Me + 2MAD, equal to sum of median of concentrations and double median of absolute deviations from the median.

EFFECT: invention provides estimation of amount of pollution of marine environment by heavy metals on the basis of accounting for both their content and taking into account dangers of existence of macrophytes in environment with excess of metals.
