FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to butyl rubber with a surface treated – a butyl rubber substrate. Butyl rubber substrate comprises butyl rubber having repeating units derived from an isoolefin monomer and repeating units, derivatives of a multi-olefin monomer, the substrate having a surface with an organosilane self-assembled monolayer. Plasma oxidation of the butyl rubber surface followed by vapour deposition of the silicon halide provides a hydrophilic surface suitable for anchoring organosilanes.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce gas permeability without changing optical transparency of the butyl rubber substrate.
