FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for recovering oil from an oil-bearing formation, the porous mineral matrix material of which contains significant amounts of silica in the form of quartz, includes mixing a surfactant, water, a polymer and liquid ammonia containing not more than 10 wt% of water to form an oil recovery composition with a starting pH of 10 to 12, when said liquid ammonia is mixed with other components of the oil recovery composition or is present in the oil recovery composition, introducing said composition to extract oil into the oil-bearing formation, contacting said composition to extract oil with oil in the oil-bearing formation; and oil recovery from the oil-bearing formation after introduction of the said composition to extract oil into the oil-bearing formation. EFFECT: present invention relates to a method, system and composition for producing oil from a formation comprising a surfactant, liquid ammonia, polymer and water.
