FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention is referred to microbial enhanced oil recovery. According to four embodiments the method of microbial enhanced oil recovery includes the treatment of water intended for injection to oil-bearing strata, stimulation of microbiological activity and addition of oxygen promoting the microbiological activity. Water used for the treatment contributes to at least a partial creation of at least one condition favourable for the microbiological activity, which increases oil migration from the oil-bearing strata. The system of microbial enhanced oil recovery from the oil-bearing strata contains an oxygen supply unit to deliver oxygen to microorganisms in the strata, a water treatment unit designed at least partially to create at least one condition promoting the growth of microbial population of the microorganisms, whereat oil migration from the oil-bearing strata is increased and wherein the above equipment comprises equipment intended for the reduction of biochemical oxygen demand or total organic carbon content in the above water. The invention has been developed in the dependent claims.
