SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing oil from a formation. Method of extracting oil from an oil-bearing formation, including mixing an anionic surfactant, water, polymer, alkali metal bicarbonate and liquid ammonia to form a composition for extracting oil having a pH less than 10, measured at 25 °C, feeding the resulting composition into the oil-bearing formation, contacting said composition with the oil in the oil-bearing formation and extracting oil from the oil-bearing after feeding said composition. Composition for the extraction of oil containing a mixture of anionic surfactants, polymer, ammonia, water and alkali metal bicarbonate, where the composition has a pH less than 10, measured at 25 °C. Method for oil extraction from an oil-bearing formation, including the introduction of an anionic surfactant, water, polymer, alkali metal bicarbonate and liquid ammonia into an oil-bearing formation, mixing anionic surfactant, water, polymer, alkali metal bicarbonate and liquid ammonia in the oil-bearing formation to form a composition for extracting oil having a pH less than 10, contacting said composition with oil in the oil-bearing formation; and oil recovery from the formation after contacting the composition with oil in the formation. Invention is developed in dependent items of the formula.
