FIELD: fire safety.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to refractory product based on beta-alumina, which is made in form of a block for forming a glass sheet by transfusion. Refractory product has Al2O3 total content of approximately 50 to 97 %, with Al2O3 containing alpha-Al2O3 and beta-alumina. At least 75 % of Al2O3 is contained in form of beta-alumina. Refractory product has void ratio, of at least about 0.1 % by volume, but not more than about 20 % by volume. At least a part of the product is coated with thickness of more than 100 mcm, containing beta-alumina.

EFFECT: when forming glass article, glass material is contacted with beta-alumina, and when glass material flows, Mg-Al oxide is not formed on beta-alumina on the surface of glass forming unit.
