FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to refractory industry and specifically to a method of producing heat-insulating calcium hexaaluminate material used as an aggregate for refractory articles and concrete with operating temperature of up to 1450°C, meant for refractory lining of thermal generating units in various industries. In order to obtain heat-insulating calcuim hexaaluminate material, a crude mixture is prepared by mixing 58.0-70.0 wt % pre-crushed spent catalyst support from chemical production containing 92.0-96.0 wt % Al2O3 and 30.0-42.0 wt % alumina cement containing 70.0-75.0 wt % Al2O3. Workpieces are then moulded via granulation, casting or vibrating the moistened crude mixture. The obtained workpieces are hardened in air for 8-16 hours, dried and fired at temperature 1450-1500°C, and then crushed after cooling to obtain material with given grain composition.
EFFECT: obtaining aggregate for refractory articles and concrete, having high porosity (65,0-68,0%) and compression strength (6,0-11,0 MPa).
