SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method, system and data medium for calculating the relevance of an investigated entity. Method comprises a discovery process for performing operations for examining records that describe transactions between entities, and constructing, in a database, a data structure that represents a relationship network, based on the transactions, where the relationship network represents a first entity and a second entity, wherein the discovery process includes a recursive mapping operation that uses, in the processing cycle during discovery, a stack that stores entities of interest, and for an entity of interest from the stack, which is at a certain tier, reviews records repeatedly in order to find the related entity at the next tier, adds the related entity to the data structure and continues until the N tier is reached, and the relevance of the second entity to the first entity is calculated depending on the characteristics of the second entity and the relevance of one or more intermediate entities to the first entity.

EFFECT: technical result is enabling calculation of relevance of entities.
