FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: diaphragm seal (101) for cable gland has concentric inner (103) and outer (105) cylindrical seal walls connected at one end by diaphragm (107) to define cavity (121). Cavity (121) contains a plurality of support webs (125) that extend between the inner (103) and outer (105) seal walls. Webs (125) are provided on an exit side of seal (101) and deform to assist insertion of the cable through seal (101) from an entry side of seal (101). Webs (125) resist inversion of seal (101) when the pressure on the exit side is higher than the pressure on the entry side to create a pressure differential across diaphragm (107).
EFFECT: invention provides a diaphragm seal capable of resisting the explosion pressure and which in this case is combined with a simple installation and removal of the cable.
