FIELD: water and air purification technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for the purification of industrial wastewater of electroplating or other similar industries containing toxic simple and complex cyanides. To carry out the process of wastewater treatment from stable nitriles and hexacyanoferrates(II, III), the effluents are treated with ultraviolet irradiation with the simultaneous presence of an oxidizing agent. As an oxidizer, persulfate is used at a molar ratio [S2O82-]÷[Fe(CN)6], equal to 10÷1. Purification process is carried out in a flow-through photoreactor using high-pressure mercury quartz lamps at room temperature over a wide range of pH values of 6–11.
EFFECT: method provides a deep purification of sewage from stable nitriles and hexacyanoferrates(II, III) due to the intensification of the process of photodestruction of cyanide compounds, as well as the simplification of the technological scheme, reducing the consumption of reagents and reducing the time of waste water treatment; method is safe and economically feasible from the ecological point of view.
